“Album of Natural Dyes of Tbilisi, Georgia”

2024

This project seeks to reignite interest in local natural dyes and actualize the Silk Museum's legacy on working with textiles. By harnessing urban botanicals, I aim to highlight the beauty and potential of overlooked, renewable resources, while celebrating the unique character of the immediate environment. Through this exploration, I invite viewers to reconsider the hidden possibilities within their own surroundings.

Among the dyes are traditional walnut, “Imereti Safran” (marigolds), alder, hibiscus, but also lesser known genista, yarrow and even homemade Saperavi wine.

Size of the Album - 11.7” x 16.5”, 8 sheets and a hand dyed folder.
